Living in chilly Michigan, where winter seems to last 6 months of the year, my family and I have found the perfect tropical escape—the stunning islands of the Bahamas. The Bahamas has some of the best islands and some of the most amazingly turquoise beaches in the world. We have been visiting the Bahamas since 2006 and there’s nothing quite like it. Stepping off the plane and being greeted by that warm ocean breeze. Swapping snow covered roads for powdery white sand. And of course, turquoise waters that look straight out of a postcard. It’s a perfect change of scenery.
Our family loves to visit the different Islands of the Bahamas and enjoy all they have to offer.
We usually start our days by soaking up the sun at one of their many beaches, and love to spend time snorkeling among the vast marine life. At some point during our trip we take the opportunity to island-hop. This usually involves taking a boat excursion to explore one of our favorite Bahamian Islands. However, if you are wanting to spend more time on one of the islands, I would recommend making it an overnight trip and hopping on a quick flight instead. Whichever route you go, you’ll be sure to enjoy the leisurely pace of Bahamian island time. Whether it’s relaxing with a Bahama Mama in the sunshine, exploring the islands, or indulging in crispy cracked conch and conch fritters, the Bahamas never fails to refresh our souls—and trust me, once you visit, you’ll never want to leave!
